With Christmas just around the corner, the party season is almost upon us. As fun and exciting as this time can be, the never-ending stream of events can leave you confused on what to wear. After all, you can’t just repeat the same outfit at every function, especially if the guest lists tend to overlap. Unfortunately, when you’re low on funds, buying new clothing pieces can be tricky too. To make this possible, here are six clever cost-cutting tips to help you save money on your fashion.
Look Through Other Sections
Want to know a weird fact? Women’s fashion tends to cost a bit more than men’s, even for universal garments, like hoodies and t-shirts. Crazy, right?! With that in mind, you should check out what the men’s section has to offer before you fall for something in the women's section. You never know what you may find! haha. If you’re on the smaller side, you can cut costs even further by buying items from the children’s section. I do this a lot with shoes... #noshameinmygame
Wait For The Sales
When you see a dress or jacket you absolutely adore, your first instinct is to snap it up right away (I struggle with this). However, if you’re on a budget, it may make more sense to wait a while. You never know, in a few weeks you could find it in the sale racks or on the Amazon deal of the day page. Buying your clothes out-of-season offers the best rates, as long as you have the patience to wait.
Buy What You Need
That being said, even a 75% discount isn’t a discount if you’re buying something you don’t really need. It doesn’t matter how good the sale prices are, you shouldn't buy clothes unless you know for sure that you’re going to wear them.
Look For The Label
Never buy clothes before you check the label first. After all, if you always buy dry-clean only clothes, you’ll have to pay a fortune... or at the very least an extra cost every time you want to wear them, or, even worse, ruin them by attempting to wash them yourself. You can also wash all of those pieces separately on a very delicate cycle and then air dry!
Shop For Generic Basics
Basic pieces of clothing, like loungewear, plain t-shirts, and tank tops don't need to be anything fancy, especially when they’re being worn under something else or only in your home. For this reason, you should stick to nameless, generic brands for these items. This way, you have even more money to splash on the fashion you really want to show off.
Decide Not To Buy
If you’ve ever abandoned your cart online, you will have probably noticed that retailers hate it. Instead of just letting you forget about your shopping, they send an email or two to remind you, often with a discount code as an incentive. Because of this, you should start leaving your full cart on purpose. They’ll still send the vouchers, which means that you can save. Clever, huh (;
